Barber’s Den is not your average barbershop. From their personal consultations to their array of exceptional services, everything they do is to give their customers a barbershop experience beyond any other. Our design needed to make sure that carried that through. We started by breaking the stereotypical barbershop layout and created pods of barber chairs. These pods provide more personalized zones for the barber and their clients to interact while also giving the shop a more communal, village-like feel with unique stations located on multiple levels. This tiered setup also helped us address the difficult head height restrictions of the existing base building’s design. From there, we left no detail unthought of. We designed inlays, hooks, and grommets directly into the concrete countertops to hold barber mats and tools. We also kept the pods’ cabinets off of the floor to make sweeping with the integrated vacuum system hassle-free. For the finishing touch, we completely restored seven vintage barber chairs to cap off the clean, modern design that is simultaneously masculine, approachable, comfortable and highly functional. It really is a barbershop experience unlike any other.
