Creating a Cambridge staple.

Area Four

The idea for Area Four was to create multiple spaces, for multiple user groups, for various times of day, within one seamless and modern design. Our creation? A cozy café, a high-end bar and an award-winning restaurant all in one.

The layout and use of a large sliding door between the café and the rest of the space allow the café to function as a true multi-use room and generate revenue day through night. In the morning, the door remains shut to restrict views of the closed, prepping restaurant. At lunch, it’s opened to welcome guests for food while the café transitions into an extension of the restaurant’s dining room or a private event space. The overall decor is clean and approachable, balancing clean lines with unrefined materials to appeal to both executive lunches as well as casual student meetups. Overhead, custom-designed lighting fixtures provide a warm, indirect glow onto wood planks, mirroring the table surfaces and complimenting the delicious glow of the custom, wood-fired ovens. Mix that with pizzas handmade with dough fermented for 30+ hours? You won’t be disappointed.
