South Boston-born
and finally home.

Castle Island Taproom

Castle Island has been steadily rising through the beer ranks since they first opened in 2015. And though their primary production is in Norwood, MA, their origins are actually in South Boston. Now, they’re finally coming home in a big way with their brand-new 8,900 sq ft taproom which JtA designed.

The brand is fun and energetic, so we wanted to create a space that captured that same feeling in a really welcoming and active way. From the layout to the materials to the colors to the murals and the branding, every detail encourages you to let loose and have a good time. We also designed it to be a place that all ages and generations can enjoy. Which is only fitting since, the space used to be an electric switch manufacturer owned by one of the founder’s grandfathers. Just as the space itself has been “passed down” and evolved from one generation to the next, so too should the Castle Island experience. Young and old, friends and families, blue collar and white collar-- everyone who visits the taproom can call it home. So pop in and mingle around the hightops. Saddle up to the bar with 40 taps. Bring the kids and scarf down Bardo’s pizza in front of the lenticular feature wall. Or take in the Boston skyline on the patio while playing some bocce. The space is for anyone and everyone. Just as its namesake suggests, Castle Island is built to be enjoyed for years and years to come.
