Over 130 years old
and never looked better.
Concord Residence
For this full gut rehab and addition, our clients wanted to bring their 1890’s home into the modern era in a big way, while still celebrating its rich past.
Our design started in the back with the addition, where we expanded the kitchen and the living room so the family could better connect with their backyard. From there, we converted their covered porch into a brand new dining room where they can all gather with loads of natural light. Then, moving up to the second story, we reconfigured the bedrooms to create some much-appreciated individual bedrooms for the kids and an even more appreciated master suite for the parents. But we didn’t have to stop there. With it being such a grand old home, we added a new staircase to the third story and converted the old attic into a new rec room, office, and an additional bathroom. Modern upgrades were incorporated throughout, including new windows, new insulation, and a new, efficient heating & cooling system. On top of all of that, we made certain the house’s original charm came through loud and clear with a complete restoration of the old butler stairs. They had been previously closed off and unused for years, but we opened them back up to give the kids one-of-kind access to their rooms. It was an extensive project but a truly special one for everyone involved. Now, kids and parents, past and present, history and future, all have a place to live for years to come.
